I see myself as a woman who is lucky enough to be born in this time and place in history. I believe that women have better access to opportunities, and are also creating opportunities for themselves. Thank you for doing this.
I grew up in Germany as the oldest of 4 siblings. In the 60s it was still tough for a girl like me, who liked to climb on trees, play chess, wanting to play football or ice hockey. I was a bright girl and only thanks to my teacher and mother, my father agreed to let me go onto a ‘gymnasium’. After I left my husband who mentally abused me, I came to the UK in 2002. However, my second partner was also an alcoholic. I am living now freed for over 6 years now and enjoy my life. I am glad that my daughter has it easier and that she can stand her ground. I am also proud of my son who is supporting feminism in a way.
