For me, womanhood has always been something I have neglected as I have never felt comfortable with the expectations. From my early years, I took interests that were apparently meant for boys. Today I am a writer and an activist, driven both by my understanding of the world, and by my inner burning ambitions and wish to look after others. I have learnt that my womanhood is no longer something I should fear (I always did because I never thought I fit the ‘womanly box’) but something I should allow to just be. For I am a woman. Not perhaps the woman one would expect. But I am my own.
I’m here with my 13 year old daughter today to mark a difference in the way this historic building will operate, for our voices to be part of a brighter, more vibrant future.
I want my voice to be heard in history “Our voices are our most powerful weapons”. My name is Freya and I am 13 years old.
